Antipasto is the perfect beginning to an Italian meal. Designed to accompany leisurely conversation before the meal officially begins, it's the sign to your guests that you're providing some delicacies to take the edge off their hunger and to heighten their appreciation for the main feast to come. Antipastos range from simple items such as prosciuitto e melon, to a platter of olives, cured meats, cheeses, figs, and marinated vegetables. Sometimes an antipasto is a simple bruschetta (toasted bread) grilled with garlic and olive oil. We've included a selection of some fine prepared items that can help you quickly put together an outstanding antipasto.
